General
1.) Sportsmanship is expected of all skaters both on and off the ice. Examples of behavior which are not appropriate include loitering or visiting on the ice, disrespectful language whether it be swearing or words such as a loudly spoken MOVE or EXCUSE ME, and kicking of the ice. Courtesy is to be shown for a skater performing his/her freestyle program to music. It is also the responsibility of every skater or professional teaching on the ice to avoid getting in each other's way.
2.) All skaters who contract for ice must be members of the Figure Skating Club of Minneapolis. Non-Club skaters may purchase random ice three(3) days during the membership year(July-June) without purchasing an associate membership in the club. Any visiting skater must be registered USFSA member of another USFSA club.
3.) Professionals teaching on FSC of Minneapolis contract ice, from the boards, or on the floor areas of the rink during club time must have prior approval from the FSC of Minneapolis Board of Directors.
4.) All skaters must check in with the Ice Supervisor before stepping on the ice. Any contract skater who has not checked in for a session 5 Minutes after that session starts will forfeit his/her spot if there are any skaters waiting to buy random ice. (Exception: The skater has called the rink to notify the Ice Supervisor that he/she will be late).
5.) The Ice Supervisor is responsible for the safety of skaters on contract ice and the inforcement of club ice rules. Skaters are expected to respect the authority of the Ice Supervisor.
6.) All skaters are expected to read and abide by club rules. In addition, new club members or skaters new to contracting ice are expected to familiarize themselves with ice procedures. A copy of these procedures is included in the Contract Ice Book at the arena or is available upon request for the person in charge of club contract ice.
Moves in the Field
1.) No music is to be played during Moves in The Field sessions.
2.) Moves patterns only are to be done during Moves sessions. No jumps, spins or other freestyle are allowed during Moves sessions. Ice dance patterns are allowed, however no music can be played.
Freestyle
1.) Dance instruction is allowed, but freestyle skaters have the right of way.
2.) If you are out on the ice surface, you must be in motion. If you must stop for any reason, please move to the sideboards(No standing in the corner at anytime) and look around before leaving the boards again so as to avoid colliding with other skaters.
3.) For insurance purposes, skaters must avoid the jumping harness when it is in use even if your music is being played.
4.) The skater whose music is being played has the right of way only if the program vest is being worn. All other skaters and professionals must be aware of whose tape is being played and should give the skater the right of way on the ice.
5.) Skaters should place their tape in the tape box for rotation to play. All skaters are eligible for one play before a skater plays their program a second or third time. Exception: Professionals may play a skater’s program during their own lesson time.
6.) Skaters on the first session are responsible to bring the tape box and vest to the rink and the skaters on last session should remove the tape box and vest at the end of the final ice session.
We expect your cooperation in following the rules above. The Ice Supervisor may ask a skater to leave the ice if there are problems. The Board of Directors may also impose restrictions for skaters if there are repeated violations of the Ice Rules.
Any violation of the rules may result in the following action: Immediate removal from the ice for the balance of the session. Repeat offenders and their parents will be asked to appear before the Board of Directors.
